FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do you offer rebates or Medicare?
Counselling sessions may be eligible for rebates through some private health insurance providers, depending on your level of cover. It’s worth checking directly with your insurer to see what’s included.

Counselling isn’t eligible for Medicare rebates. However, Medicare often limits the number of sessions and requires a mental health diagnosis and GP referral, which can create unnecessary barriers.

Paying out-of-pocket doesn't mean higher costs – in fact, many clients find our approach more affordable. You gain the freedom to choose a counsellor who truly resonates with you, access a broader range of therapeutic options, and begin your healing journey without barriers.
What is the difference between a
psychologist and a counsellor/psychotherapist?
While both psychologists and counsellors are dedicated to supporting mental health, our approach offers a uniquely personal touch. Psychologists often focus on diagnostic approaches and specific therapeutic interventions, whereas our counselling practice centers on you as a whole person.

We collaborate to develop practical strategies for everyday challenges or explore deeper emotional landscapes. Our goal is supporting your whole emotional wellness, not just treating symptoms.
Do I need a referral to see a counsellor?
Absolutely not! Your path to support is direct and simple. Reaching out is as easy as picking up the phone, sending an email, or booking online.
We're just a call away at 03 8203 5151, ready to take that first step with you whenever you're ready.
How do I know if counselling is right for me?
Counselling isn’t just for when everything falls apart. It’s for the moments when you realise you’ve been holding it all together for everyone else, but feel lost in the process.

If you’ve always been the strong one, the listener, the fixer… but lately you’re running on empty, feeling disconnected, anxious, overwhelmed, or unsure where you fit in the picture, counselling can help.

You don’t need to wait for a crisis to deserve support. Wanting clarity, healthier boundaries, or space to focus on yourself is reason enough. This is a safe place to pause, exhale, and begin finding your way back to you.
How often will I need to attend counselling?
There's no one-size-fits-all approach. The frequency of sessions depends entirely on your individual needs, goals, and circumstances.

Some clients benefit from weekly sessions, while others might find fortnightly or monthly check-ins more suitable. We'll work together to create a schedule that feels supportive and manageable for you, regularly reviewing and adjusting as your needs change.
What can I expect during my first session?
There’s no need to prepare extensively—just come as you are with an open mind and a willingness to explore.
We will go through your Intake paperwork, including any assessments.
If it helps, you might like to reflect on:
-
What led you to seek counselling
-
The main areas where you’re seeking support
-
Any goals or things you’d like to focus on during our sessions
You will leave with a plan and sessions in the diary. We’ll work together at a pace that feels comfortable for you, and I’ll be there to guide you every step of the way.
